President Trump is defending his decision to fire 18 inspectors general Friday night. The inspectors, who are tasked with investigating fraud, abuse and waste, were removed from multiple federal agencies. One of the fired inspectors at the Interior Department says the key questions is whether the president will appoint true watchdogs or “lap dogs.” NBC’s Hallie Jackson reports for TODAY.
